Abstract

Background: According to the importance of speed of services in the emergency department specially, first visit and first clinical activity, it’s necessary that the hospital pay attention to the waiting time of services and promote quality and patient’s satisfaction in this department by continues evaluation of working circulation.

Objectives: The Effects of first time of visit and first clinical activity on the patient’s satisfaction at the second level of Shahid CHamran hospital emergency department.

Materials and methods: In this study triage process and bedridden under 6 Hour have heightened by measurement and increasing of waiting time index for first visit and first clinical activity in the second level of emergency patients by using the 6 sigma methodology and its effect on the emergency patient’s satisfaction (dependent variable) has surveyed. In this study the first visit of waiting time is broken in 3th critical to quality(Pediatric specialist first visit, general and interior surgery) in addition firstwaiting time of clinical visit has defined as 4th critical characteristic.

Results: By declining of first waiting time of clinical activity (p=0.008) Patient’s satisfaction appeared as meaningful disparity and it increases patient’s satisfaction (increasing satisfaction from middle level to good level. in addition by dealing of waiting time of first visit patient’s satisfaction appeared as meaningful disparity (p<0.001) and it heightens patient satisfaction (increasing from middle level to good level) (p<0.001).

Conclusion: The 6 sigma methodology is a powerful and effective instrument for increasing service workflow, declining service time in the emergency and increasing patient’s satisfaction.
